Rera, I have never expected anyone to take me with any build.

It's not just about your build, but also about how you play it.
I have no argument with that. I guess my point waws in PVP you are pretty much expected to use certain builds.

Guild Wars is based on numbers. You may want to take a look at threads such as this:

Maybe you need a nice game of arm-wrestling, where physical strength and not math is the primary factor.
All computer games are based on math at the primary level. What is not fun to me is looking at a game as a set of numbers, rather than a role playing experience and an adventure.

You like playing suboptimal builds; fair enough. However, a couple of things to keep in mind:
1. Playing a suboptimal build, in and of itself, does not make you skillful.
2. If you really are skilled, why wouldn't you play an optimal build?
1. Never said it did.
2. Like I've said before, I don't want to play a cookie-cutter build that eveyone else is using. I would prefer to be original, bringing back the whole point of it being a game and enjoynig the challenge, doing something different and having fun.

For a real life example, how about a job you are very skillful at. Doesn't mean you enjoy it or have to do it. So you go find a job you do enjoy doing even if the pay isn't as good, because it is enjoyable.

My priority in game is to have fun, else I wouldn't do it, no matter how optimal I can get at it.

Look at it this way. If everyone were expected to play an optimum build, there would be no choice on what skills to take for a certain proffession, how to set your attributes, what secondary to take, or what weapon/armor combo to use. You would just be given a choice of pre-set builds, like the pre-made PvP builds. The reason there are choices is to make it enjoyable, to have fun building a character from start to endgame.

Why even have anything in game that isn't optimal? Why allow a Sin to have any secondary other than Ranger? Why have the smiting attribute at all? Acccording to the thread you pointed me to, why even have Eles as a class anymore? Why allow a Necro to be anything other than SS or MM? Why even make it possible for casters to use melee weapons at all? Why let Warriros be able to use energy offhands when a shiled optimizes thier armor?

Why doesn't Anet jus step in and say, "look, these builds arent' optimal so no one can use them. Now you can use build A B or C. Period." Why? because that would make the game utterly boring, which is why I don't feel the need to use only the most optimal build there is.

It separates the good and bad players from the terrible ones?

Rits, I really haven't encountered more than a couple in PvP so I can't say there.
Eles, same two builds.
Seriously have you ever played pvp other then RA and AB.
I'll point out just a few common builds but honestly theres more then i'll bother to type.
First
Warriors->so many builds here. Just because you see a ton of shock axe running around means little look at high end gvg I see just as many sword and hammer warriors as the cookie cutter shock axe.

Monks->O.o Woh/Infuse->Blight(either mo/me mo/a both play diffrently)-->Rc Prot--> AoE--->DB(Dropping off now) and other modded ones.

Rangers-->One build O.o o.O O.o??? Cript Shot, Melh shot(spike).Melduras arrows, CG, Apply posion/Posion arrow, Full Trapper, VIM, Spirtspammer(kinda died recently).

Sins--Shock/aod base gank, Floursh, Temple strike, shock/morbious, Coward/fearme, and more based off diffrent elties.

Mesmer-->main builds but to say they only take out one target is stupid as many skills are multi functional. Take blackout(godly skill) can be anything from draining adrenalin to pre spike shutdown.

Necro-->MM SS you sure your not thinking pve. About the main over used one in pvp is bloodspike but their used for others heavy degen/hex overload--->Tainted warder-->there are really tons of mods in the degen are though.

Rits---> starting to come out into pvp but after spirt spammer nerf not many. Do see some restoration rits recently though and a couple spikes.

Eles--> Lots here though people try to combine them to save party spaces. Flagger--->Snares--->Shock wave warder---> Starburst And many diffrent ones which are uncommon but effective like a PD Ele.

Pvp offers much more open types.

Now PVE
Warriors--Tanks
Rangers--Barrage w/interupts
Mesmer--not mainy but tend to run surge or interupts when I see them
Ele---Echo/gor MS nuff said
Sins--Not tons mainly due to none partying them.
Necro--MM/SS
Rits--Restoration(spirt spaming is dead)occasional channeling though asked to switch to restoration
Monks--
Monk joins
Player--You heal
Monk yes
Player GOGOGOGOGOGO

If only GW was a roleplaying experience, instead of the luck, skill, and numbers game it is.
